Knowing the flow of commuters from one location to the next provides important information over and above total population for effective site analysis. When the flow of commuters from community to community has been accurately captured, you can make better decisions for out-of-home advertising or the placement of sales outlets.
The ARBEITSWEGEMATRIX for Germany captures the work journeys of all socially-insured employees for all of the communities (Gemeinden) in Germany. A commuter is defined a person that regularly travels from home to work across community borders.
The dataset contains the commutes in total as well as differentiated between male and female employees.
The ARBEITSWEGEMATRIX for Germany also makes it possible to consider those traveling to and those traveling from a community separately. Included in this traveling to a community are also employees coming in from outside the country.
The dataset is supplied as Excel-, Access- or as ASCII-text files, updated annually and matches to the community boundaries from DDS.
